Four killed, 43 injured in KZN lightning strikes

Lightning has again claimed the lives of KZN residents, leaving scores injured

FOUR people were killed this weekend in KZN after being struck by lightning.

According to spokesman for KZN EMS, Robert McKenzie, a 28-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries after lightning struck her home.

‘Last night at around 7.30pm EMS paramedics responded to a house in the Ndwedwe area in the Illembe District. The woman sadly sustained fatal injuries, while another person was seriously injured and had to be treated by paramedics,’ he said.

‘In a separate incident near the Wosiyane court‚ also in the Ndwedwe area‚ three people were injured after their house was stuck by lightning. These patients had all sustained serious injuries‚ but were taken to hospital in a stable condition.’

Meanwhile in Harding, three people were killed and more than 40 were injured when lightning struck a tree under which they were worshiping.
