Young boys forced to sodomise each other

eSikhaleni community shocked after ten boys were molested and raped on Sunday

TEN innocent young boys who went for a swim in a local dam on Sunday afternoon were beaten, molested and forced to rape each other.

Evidence from adult family members of victims said the group of boys aged between 8 and 12 years left their homes at uMkhobose area for a swim at Injunga Dam outside eSikhaleni.

While cooling themselves, they were reportedly approached by a group of old teenagers, who ordered them to strip naked before molesting them and forcing them to have sexual intercourse with each other.

According to one of the victims’ uncle, Khumulani Qwabe, his nephew came back home with severe bruises on his body.

When questioned, the traumatised boy informed the family about his experience.

‘He just started crying and told us of how these young men forced them to strip and started beating them.

‘They were dragged into a forest, and were forced to have sex with each other,’ said an angrily Qwabe

A young mother from the area also said her 12-year-old son is traumatised after the incident.

‘He could not even go to school because he was afraid, and I am also scared to leave his side.

‘I just don’t know what could make people behave in this manner,’ she said.

The incident has shocked the entire community, and now they seek justice against the culprits.

According to residents, two suspects were arrested on Tuesday, after they were identified in a video which was circulating on social networks.

According to Ward 16 councillor Nonhlanhla Cele, the video shows the abuse towards the boys, and being thrown into deep water.

‘A case has been reported to the police and we plead with residents not to take law into their own hands and let the police do their jobs. This matter have also been reported to the HIV/Aids group in uThungulu, and we are now trying to organise counselling for the children,’ she said.
