WATCH: Traffic cops cuff woman in front of her child

A video of traffic police apprehending a female driver in Meerensee in full view of her child has emerged on Facebook

SOCIAL media is abuzz with allegations of ‘traffic police brutality’ after a video was circulated following an incident in Meerensee today.

According to reports a female driver was pulled over following an alleged traffic violation and was ‘manhandled’ by officers who took her into custody in full view of her young child who was in the vehicle.

She was allegedly held in Richards Bay police cells and denied access to her lawyers or even water to drink.

The woman who sustained a number of bruises was later released and according to a friend will be laying charges tomorrow morning.

The Zululand Observer was unable to ascertain whether any charges had been laid against the woman.
