Spring away from drugs

Get your walking shoes on for the annual 5km Sanca/Bay Watch 'Walk Away From Drugs' .

PARTICIPANTS in the 9th annual Sanca/Bay Watch ‘Walk Away From Drugs’ event on 5 September will have an extra spring in their step.

This being the first Saturday in Spring, the fun walkers have been asked to dress colourfully and brightly as they show their solidarity with Sanca’s wonderful efforst to prevent and treat drug and alcohol addiction.

The tried and tested route from the Zululand Yacht Club to Naval Island and back has again been chosen, with a number of water table sponsors along the way providing plenty of fun and games along with the sachets kindly donated by Mhlathuze Water.

The walk itself starts at 9am but will be preceded by a number of activities, including the popular Bootcamp warm-up, Tiara Peters dance show, police sniffer dogs (if available on the day) and more.

As usual, a number of prizes are up for grabs, including a computer, printer and scanner for the school with the highest number of entrants, courtesy of South 32, who also supply medals for every finisher.

The Richards Bay IDZ has again come to the party by donating a computer desk, while Mondi has supplied 20 reams of paper.

The event is open to all with an entry donation of R20 for adults and R10 for children.
