BREAKING NEWS: ANC Regional Chairperson, Thulani Mashaba dies in car crash

ZULULANDERS woke to the tragic news that Thulani Mashaba, ANC Regional Chairperson for the Musa Dladla Region and uThungulu District Municipality Deputy Mayor, died in a car crash last night.

Mashaba  (43) was travelling to Richards Bay from King Shaka Airport when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle on the N2 near the Ballito turn-off at around 10pm.

Mashaba was with two bodyguards when the car apparently rolled several times, ejecting all the occupants from the vehicle.

Sadly, he was declared dead on scene while both bodyguards were in a critical condition.

Advanced Life Support paramedics from IPSS Medical Rescue stabilised the two men before transporting them to hospital.

‘Thank you to the Kwadukuza Fire Department, the police department, various towing companies, IPSS Medical Rescue and Netcare medics for the great work on scene especially under the current weather conditions,’ read a post on the IPSS Facebook page.

The exact cause of the collision is subject to police investigation.
