Aquadene housing development ready to roll

Work on Aquadene housing to start at end of year.

BULK services for the Aquadene Housing Development Project are expected to be installed before the end of the year.

This was announced by City of uMhlathuze Mayor, Mduduzi Mhlongo, during the Social Compact Agreement signing ceremony on Tuesday at the Aquadene Community Hall.

Mlongo reassured the community that R42-million has been allocated to install services and ensure the project time frames stay on track and for work on the ground to be underway by November or December.

The development caters for employed people who do not qualify for a bond. There are 1 500 rental units and 650 low cost houses.

The application process will be open to all residents in the city.

‘It does not mean that you will qualify just because you are an Aquadene resident. You will have to fit the qualifying criteria.

‘Those who are already home owners or benefitted from a previous housing development, do not qualify,’ said Mhlongo.

‘The agreement ensures all relevant stakeholders are represented and transparency in the allocation process.

‘We do this to ensure community involvement in the decision making.
