ONE person died and four were seriously injured when the bakkie they were travelling in collided with a car on the N2 just north of Empangeni yesterday afternoon.
The car, a white Mercedes, came to a stop about 200 metres from the point of impact.
According to reports, officials were informed by the owner of the car that his 15-year-old son had taken the Mercedes without his permission and had fled the scene.
The N2 was later closed for a short while.
