The league was played over two months and contested by 10 teams.

RITCHIE Ford were crowned ‘Kings of the squash courts’ after acing their way through the Bay Brick Summer League squash championships’ final rounds played on Thursday evening at the Empangeni Rugby Football Club (ERFC) and Empangeni Country Club.

Prize-giving followed at the ERFC, where Ritchie Ford were announced champions after ending top of the log, four points ahead of the second placed Empangeni Invitation team.

The league was played over two months and contested by 10 teams.

The Nashua Zululand Winter League will start on 12 May and run until September.

‘What was great to see was the number of children, women and beginners participating in the league, which bodes well for squash development,’ said league organiser Paul Gouge.

Rita Els picked up the Best Supporter award, with Nadia du Plessis receiving the Most Improved Women Player award after her standout performances on the court.

Richard José bagged the Most Improved Men’s Player award after his growth during the league.
