COMMUNITY members gathered at Mtubatuba Magistrate’s Court this morning in angry protest against the actions of a man who was arrested for allegedly raping his mother.
Carrying placards stating ‘Human rights don’t end at 60’ and ‘No to abuse of people with disabilities’, the angry community members from around Mtubatuba arrived at court by the bus load to protest against the suspect being granted bail.
The 58-year-old man allegedly raped his 76-year-old mother on more than one occasion.
He was arrested on Friday after the most recent incident was reported to Mtubatuba SAPS by a member of the Mtubatuba Community Policing Forum (CPF).
The suspect’s mother died on Sunday morning and he appeared at Mtubatuba Magistrate’s Court this morning.
