Motorist dies after bee attack on the N2

AN elderly man has died after being attacked by a swarm of bees on the N2 highway today.

Believed to be in his late sixties, the driver had veered off the highway and stopped between the R102 Link Road and Mandeni toll plaza when passing motorists stopped and found him with multiple bee stings.

The driver explained that he had stopped on the side of the highway earlier to pick fruit from a tree when he was attacked by a swarm of bees.

After returning to his car to take cover he drove a short distance before having to stop.

EMS immediately responded but when they reached the scene the man had died.

Police were also on scene and are investigating the exact cause of his death.
