Going on AWOL makes a difference

AWOL – A Work Of Love was a great success!

ON AWOL this year, the municipality, parents, teenagers, churches and volunteers interacted and the teens contributed a further 2 318 hours into the community, bringing the total to 16 741 hours.

There were also 130 campers making an impact in various hospitals, NGOs, schools, streets, retirement villages and municipal departments.

Behind the scenes, AWOL had 198 volunteers.

‘It was a privilege to see the many gifts of these volunteers flowing together as well as new relationships being built around this common cause,’ said AWOL Coordinator, Karl Röttcher.

‘A special thanks to all those involved who made AWOL 2014 Possible. We appreciate you partnering with us in making, not only a difference in the community, but in the lives of our teenagers.

‘We stand amazed: even though our area is going through such tough times, it has not stopped people from

giving. This is in the heart of Zululand and we praise God for stirring hearts in this way.

‘This has been such a wonderful opportunity for the teenagers to share God’s love that is in their hearts. Personally, I rate this year’s AWOL as having the greatest impact in the lives of our teenagers and I believe that this community is going to reap the benefits of this – for many years to come!

‘I have had a number of parents comment: ‘My child is a different person!’

Röttcher thanked all sponsors for making AWOL a great success and looks forward to ongoing support for 2015. Visit the website www.aworkoflove.co.za and you will see all the sponsors under the ‘Community’ tab.
