The City of uMhlathuze roads department attempted to jet all the blocked pipes in May, but the jetting nozzle broke, delaying work for one month.

In June, the nozzle broke once again, further delaying the repair job.

This led to excavation to remove the damaged underground pipes, rather than unblocking them.

Latest developments from ward 3 councillor Henning de Wet are that the supplier is delivering materials, awaiting only the bitumen and stone.

According to De Wet, the roads department hopes all materials will be delivered by today (Wednesday), after which work will begin immediately.
