Tragedy as Mtubatuba matric pupil is shot and killed

POLICE are investigating a case of murder after the body of a 19-year-old Grade 12 pupil was found dumped in the bush in the Nkolotho area outside Mtubatuba last Friday.

The deceased was identified as Nondumiso Masinga, a matric pupil at Thelekisa High School.

She was last seen leaving her rented apartment last Thursday on her way to school, but according to her classmates she never arrived.

Her body was found by community members the following day.

Nondumiso’s mother, Thembelihle Masinga (38), said she was heartbroken and traumatised by the death of her daughter.

She said her daughter rented an apartment near the school as she was doing her matric year.

Mtubatuba Municipality speaker, Cllr Dipuo Ntuli, said they have noted an increase in women abuse in the area.

Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbhele said the deceased had gunshot wounds to the head, neck and body.

‘A case of murder was registered at Mtubatuba Saps for investigation. ‘No arrest has yet been made,’ she said.
