WATCH: Brrrace yourself for cold weather

Temperatures expected to drop to lows of around 8 degrees

Zululanders should brace themselves for a cold few days lasting into the coming weekend as a result of a cold front that hit Cape Town on Monday, and another to come.

Temperatures across the region are expected to drop to a low of around 8 degrees at night, increasing to between 17 and 20 degrees during the day.

And as a second cold front is also making its way to the Western Cape, the South African Weather Services (SAWS) has predicted a week of very cold temperatures across the majority of South Africa from today, lasting well into the weekend.

While snow has already appeared in places like Sutherland, much of the interior of the country is expected to be subjected to snowfall.

The first cold front arrived over the southwestern parts of the country on Monday afternoon, followed by another, more intense, cold front set to make landfall today.

The latter system will be supported by a well-defined upper-air trough, thus enhancing the overall intensity of the weather system.

SAWS will continue to monitor any further developments relating to this weather system and will issue updates as required.

The public is urged to regularly follow weather forecasts on television and radio, to be kept abreast of the weather situation.
