WATCH: Empangeni community upholds city in prayer and worship

Empangeni residents pray for hope and peace across the country

Following amendments to certain lockdown restrictions to allow for religious gatherings to quell tensions, Empangeni residents gathered across FiveWays Mall to pray and worship over the town and country on Friday evening.

This follows the riots and looting that took place across the country this week.

Prayer Warriors hosted the gathering which saw people singing 10 000 Reasons and Raise a Hallelujah, before leaders prayed for the country and town in English, isiZulu and Afrikaans.

The main message spread at the gathering was hope and belief of rising from the destruction to rebuild a new town that will prosper in the future.

Community members have been aiding the municipality by cleaning affected areas over the past few days and rallying together to protect certain areas of the town.
