All public gatherings have been banned, including those held at conferencing, exhibitions and entertainment facilities.

Only funerals can go ahead, with a limit of 50 people in attendance.

Hotels, lodges as well as bed and breakfasts may only operate at 50% capacity, and may only offer room service and delivery of food.

Schools and higher education institutions must be closed for contact classes from 30 June.

These regulations go hand-in-hand with the ban of alcohol sales for both off- and on-site consumption, the new curfew of 9pm – 4am, and the closure of Gauteng’s borders for leisure travel.

Holidaymakers already in Gauteng may return home, likewise Gauteng residents already elsewhere in the country on holiday may return home.

Sporting events and matches may continue, but no spectators are allowed.

Public transport may continue, but buses can carry only 70% capacity for long distance travel (200km or more). They may carry 100% capacity for short distance travel. All passengers must wear masks.

The 20 land borders that were open, remain open, while the 33 that were closed, remain closed.
