Soccer development kicks off in Brackenham suburb

A youth soccer development programme in Richards Bay is providing Aquadene and Brackenham youngsters with training sessions

A youth soccer development programme in Richards Bay is providing Aquadene and Brackenham youngsters with training sessions on Mondays and Thursdays.

The initiative is led by a community group that has been involved in various sports’ training programmes aimed at reviving sporting codes for children aged five to 17 years.

Already in its fourth week, coaches Daynan Naidoo, Cassim Moosa, Cameron Moses, Kevin Naidoo, Kiet Moodley and Riley Rampersadh have been hard at work preparing the players to compete in the SAFA Lower Umfolozi Junior League.

Bay Alarms, Alpha Tools and Vinods Recycling have sponsored kit and training equipment, however, organisers are hoping more local businesses and communities will provide further sponsorship to cover teams kits, training equipment and laundry expenses.

‘We’re encouraging all local children, aged U9 and U11, to join in the fun,’ said coach Kevin Naidoo.
