Good harvest for north coast anglers

North Coast region fails to disappoint

MUCH fishing action in north coast waters last week ensured great catches for the angling fraternity.

Using lipped lures, deep sea goers got stuck into some nice big tuna, while anglers who started out early in the mornings with fillet baits, managed to fill their hatches with snoek.

Both the lipped lures and fillets produced fish, but the fillets landed the bigger boys.

Once again, make sure to troll baits at different depths to ensure all areas are covered.

Rock and surf anglers working the north coast banks and rocky ledges experienced some toothy encounters.

There were also plenty of big sandies around the upper north coast region.

These brutes can quickly break inferior tackle, so ensure all connections are up to standard and no shortcuts are taken.

Those who are up for a real fight have been swimming some of the skates they have hooked, and these have been gobbled up by opportunistic zambies.

These are the UFC fighters of the shark world as they continue to pull throughout the fight.

Stumpies, lemonfish, speckled snapper and various kingies have also been on the bite at ledges and sandbanks.

Prawn, chokka and redeye sardines have been the pick of the baits.

Circle hooks are a real advantage in these rocky terrain and will stop the hooks from snagging in the abundant reef.
