Flaunt those flip flops for CHOC

The inaugural Flip Flop Day last year saw more than R1.5-million raised

FOR families of children with cancer, isolation is a necessary way of life as even the smallest infection can have tragic consequences.

The Covid-19 pandemic presents a more lethal challenge for these families, which is why this year’s Flip Flop Day fundraiser on Friday, 12 February requires significant public support.

Organised by the Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa (CHOC), Flip Flop Day is an annual fundraising event which allows the NPO to continue supporting children and teenagers diagnosed with cancer or life-threatening blood disorders.

CHOC Communication Co-ordinator, Taryn Seegers, said the public can show their support by wearing flip flops and purchasing a Flip Flop Day sticker for R10 while also highlighting the important role CHOC plays in young lives.

‘During the inaugural event last year, more than R1.5-million was raised,’ said Seegers.

‘This year, organisers are hoping to exceed that. These much-needed funds are used to keep our young South Africans and their families supported through the long and challenging journey they are facing.

‘From classrooms to boardrooms, let us walk in our flip flops to highlight CHOC’s passionate purpose – our refusal to back down and let childhood cancer win.’
