Vote now for Zululand’s resilient women in business

Voting opened on Monday, 16 November and will close at 2pm on Monday, 30 November

THE finalists of the Regional Businesswoman of the Year Awards are in, and voting has officially opened!

In a first for the Businesswomen’s Association (BWA) Zululand branch, the prestigious event will be hosted in a virtual format, with awards taking place on Saturday, 5 December at 6pm, and winners announced on Facebook.

A percentage of the public vote will be added to the judging panel’s score to determine the winners in each category.

The finalists will appear in every edition of the Zululand Observer over the next two weeks, giving readers enough time to cast their votes.

Innovative efforts

Themed ‘Celebrating Resilient Women in Business’, the virtual event acknowledges the innovative efforts of local women to remain relevant in – arguably – one of the toughest years in business.

‘While 2020 was largely characterised by hardships caused by Covid-19, we also saw the resilient spirit of Zululanders, as many enterprises came up with diverse and innovative offerings to survive,’ said BWA Zululand Chairperson, Ronelle Ramsamy.

‘We encourage the public to show support and vote for these phenomenal women.’

BWA Awards categories

BWA Zululand has added two new categories this year; ‘Resilient Woman of the Year’ and ‘Young Leader of the Year’.

‘We decided to go ahead with the virtual awards to inspire others to persevere through the Covid-19 storm.’ continued Ramsamy.

‘We were impressed to see the incredible work being done by local women in the social, business, government, professional and corporate sphere. We also want to salute the tireless efforts of local women who are on the frontline of the Covid-19 pandemic.’

The other six categories are:

Professional Woman of the Year:
Corporate Woman of the Year;
Woman in Environment Award;
Social Entrepreneur of the Year;
Entrepreneur of the Year; and
Women in Government Award.

The regional awards celebrate phenomenal businesswomen who make a difference in their communities and help to grow the local economy.
