Come up with the winning name and a prize of free travel for a year to the value of R480 000 is on the cards.

A partnership between Kulula founder Gidon Novick and Global Aviation, the new airline’s inaugural flight will be between Johannesburg and Cape Town – the 12th busiest route in the world – in December.

Owners of the airline said they drew inspiration from Uber’s ‘high tech, customer-obsessed approach to mobility’ and see an opportunity for the airline industry to rethink its relationship with its passengers.

‘The pandemic has created a unique opportunity to start an airline that is not only dramatically more efficient, but also inventive and creative by tapping into the unique talent that our country offers,’ said Novick.
