Covid-19 compliance drive at Ngwelezane outside Empangeni

RISING Covid-19 infections in Ngwelezana township prompted a visit by government officials last week, tasked with creating awareness and ensuring compliance.

Currently, King Cetshwayo has the third-highest Covid-19 infections in KwaZulu-Natal.

The King Cetshwayo Department of Health, joined by Government Communication and Information System (GCIS), handed out flyers and put up posters to communicate the importance of health and safety protocols to stop viral spread.

The Covid-19 awareness teams visited various locations in the township to emphasise the importance of adhering to regulations

This is a government initiative which engages with communities in high-risk areas.

Last month, KZN Premier, Sihle Zikalala, reported that the district – which overtook iLembe as the third-highest infection rate – has been reporting an average of 126 cases since the beginning of July.

The district is also the third-highest in deaths provincially.
