Business owners targeted in crime trend in northern KZN

Business owners warned to be on high alert

COMMUNITY members residing in the uMkhanyakude district are warned by police to be on high alert as crime syndicates are once again seemingly targeting business owners.

Business owners have been receiving calls from gang members with requests for call-out quotations, but on arrival are directed to a remote area where they are confronted by armed men.

The victims are usually robbed at gunpoint of their belongings and vehicles.

The locations of these robberies are usually far from the main road or police station, leaving victims stranded.

Most of the stolen vehicles are taken across the border.

Business owners are advised that should they get a call-out for any form of service, they should arrange to meet their clients at the nearest police station.
