WATCH: Empangeni takes on Jerusalema dance challenge

The song has taken the world by storm and Zululanders have hopped to the dance challenge

JERUSALEMA, the South African smash hit with its accompanying dance challenge that has taken the world by storm, has also got Zululanders tapping their feet.

Led by the gingerbread man, Tangawizi Motors staff yesterday put the ‘yay’ into ‘Friyay’ as they got to their feet, pulled all the right moves and ended the working week on a fun-filled high, setting the bar for Zululand in this global challenge.

Jerusalema by Master KG featuring Nomcebo hit the airwaves in December and became an instant hit across the country.

It has since sparked a global dance frenzy which reportedly began in Angola after a group of friends recorded a video of the dance choreography.

The original music video has garnered over 45-million hits on YouTube and the dance craze has hit the streets in numerous countries including Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, Austria, Germany and Portugal.

The song even has a Spanish version.

The dance craze has been compared to the popularity of the 90’s Ayy Macarena, which people of a certain age will no doubt remember – and probably cringe.

The challenge has been set on the Zululand stage – will other individuals and businesses take up the baton?
