CEO and Artistic Director of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, Bongani Tembe, said that, after the pandemic forced the cancellation of the Winter Season, the orchestra had to resort to creative methods to uplift spirits by sharing this musical experience with audiences.

The KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, one of South Africa’s leading orchestras, present their concert, entitled ‘The Joy of Classical Music with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra’.

For this festival, 47 musicians from the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra got to play a part in the ultimate virtual celebration of South African arts.

This was recorded live at Hilton College in the Midlands, following all Covid-related protocols.

The concert will feature timeless classics ranging from Grieg’s Holberg Suite to Barber’s Adagio.

Music lovers can tune in to hear the orchestra perform a specially-curated programme for the virtual National Arts Festival.

The ‘Joy of Classical Music with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra’, conducted by Lykele Temmingh, will be aired as part of the vFringe live-streamed events, at a cost of just R100 per ticket.

This concert forms part of the ‘videos-on-demand’ offering and will be available to view until the end of July, allowing audiences to view the orchestra’s performance at their leisure.
