Spike in Richards Bay residential burglaries

All suburbs have seen an increase in house break-ins

RICHARDS Bay police have noted a surge in house break-ins in Meerensee, Arboretum, Wildenweide and Brackenham.

Last Thursday a house invasion occurred in Meerensee.

Three armed suspects wearing balaclavas ordered family members to lie on the floor and demanded firearms and cash.

They also fled with electrical appliances and cellphones.

Opportunistic criminals are also targeting items left outside homes, and police urge residents to ensure all their valuables are safely locked away day and night.
