The man’s son Sibusiso (35) believes his father was killed elsewhere before his body was dumped in the old building, not far from his home.

‘We searched the area on numerous occasions with the assistance of the community, but could not find him.

‘We then reported him missing to the police and another search was conducted, but to no avail,’ Sibusiso said.

‘Last Monday his body was found by one of our neighbours in the dilapidated vacant house.

Sibusiso claims that when his father left home he had his cellphone with him.

‘His cellphone is nowhere to be found and we believe it was taken by his killers.

‘We have no idea what the motive for the killing could be.’

uMkhanyakude police cluster spokesperson, Captain Jabulani Mdletshe, said the initial missing persons docket has been changed to kidnapping and murder.
