eShowe man arrested for rape

ESHOWE police have arrested a 48-year-old suspect for raping an 18-year-old woman at her homestead in the Vuma area near Eshowe.

According to reports, the victim was with her 13-months-old son when the suspect kicked open the door last Wednesday night.

King Cetshwayo Cluster Police spokesperson, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose, said the attacker demanded to see her sister, but the victim told him she was not around.

‘He allegedly told her that since her sister refused to fall in love with him, what he wanted to do with the sister he was going to do to the victim.

‘He threatened her with a knife and raped her. After he left, the woman did not want to leave the house g with the baby as it was late at night.

‘She went back to sleep, but the man later returned and raped her for a second time,’ Mdalose said.

After reporting the rapes at the eShowe police station, the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit investigating the case on Friday received a tip-off that the suspect was spotted walking in town. He was arrested and charged with rape.
