TWO men have been arrested following an armed robbery at Mac’s Fish and Chips in Empangeni last week.
According to owner Mark McCarthy, two unknown men, one armed with a handgun, entered the restaurant and take away on Wednesday shortly before 7:30pm.

‘Our last customer had just left the restaurant and these guys had obviously been watching.

‘They entered and walked straight to the till where my manager was seated.

‘One of them casually leaned over and rested his firearm on the counter, while the other guy pulled out a bag and told the manager to empty money from the till into it,’ said McCarthy.

The following day the two suspects returned to the scene of the crime and were seen loitering around Roman’s Pizza.

Police were informed and approached the two men, who then jumped into a vehicle and sped off.

But they were quickly cornered at the traffic lights and taken in for questioning.

Another business robbery occurred at approximately 2am on Tuesday morning in Tanner Road.

Reports indicate that four suspects gained entry to the building by breaking the locks on the front door.
