RURAL and disadvantaged Grade 12 pupils at Mbuyiseni High School in Mangezi Reserve were provided with tools to tackle mathematics on Wednesday morning.
In a project headed by Ward 10 Councillor Thembi Qulo, pupils received brand new scientific calculators to assist them with their studies.
According to Qulo, the aim is to ensure no pupil is being left out owing to the lack of resources.

‘High school pupils are constantly encouraged to take mathematics as a major subject, however for rural and disadvantaged pupils without resources, learning the subject can be devastating.
‘During last year’s matric results, the school received a 93.1% pass rate which is very impressive for a school in the rural area. We hope these calculators will assist them to reach the 100% pass this year,’ said Qulo.
During the handover, school Principal Themba Zikhali also acknowledged the 2017 good results, saying they were achieved through a collective effort between teachers, pupil and the parents.
