Police are investigating the murder

NEW Year’s Day ended in tragedy for the family of Jozini municipal councillor, Njabulo “Jija” Dlamini, who was stabbed to death at Alkantstrand yesterday (Monday).

According to Richards Bay SAPS records, the murder occurred at about 9pm last night.

‘The wife of the victim flagged down a police vehicle who in turn got an ambulance to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead on scene,’ said Richards Bay SAPS Communications Officer, Captain Debbie Ferreira.

In a statement issued today, the ANC said it is ‘appalled’ by the murder and horrified at losing such a young activist.

‘His untimely passing will leave a void in the ranks of the ANC, the alliance and the mass democratic movement in general, that will not be easy to fill,’ said the party.
