Two vehicles found abandoned after hijackings

KWAMSANE detectives are seeking information from the public regarding two hijackings recently committed in the area.

According to KwaMsane SAPS Communications Officer, Captain Jabulani Mdletshe, a motorist was hijacked near Nkwalini on Saturday morning.

‘At about 7.30am the victim was driving his white Mercedes-Benz from Hlabisa when he was confronted and ordered by six unknown men to pull off at the speed hump on the R618 near Nkwalini.

‘One of the suspects broke the car window, ordered the driver to get out and drove away with the car with a substantial amount of cash in it.

‘After the case was reported at the KwaMsane police station, members conducted patrols in the area, closing all the roads going out of KwaMsane.

‘The vehicle was found abandoned some four hours later in the Ongengele area,’ said Mdletshe.

In another incident, a motorist and his sister stopped to pick up some hitchhikers along the N2 near the Mfekayi area.

‘The suspects told the driver they were going to Emanguzi, and when the driver told them that he was going to Bushlands, they requested him to drop them off there,’ Mdlethshe said.

‘At Bushlands the suspects drew firearms and forced the driver to veer off into the gum tree plantations, where he and his sister were ordered to get off. The suspects then drove off with the vehicle.

‘After conducting patrols in the area, police found the vehicle abandoned near the Mfekayi area.’
