THE Mtunzini Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a 35-year-old man to 18 years in prison for raping his 18-year-old cousin.
The victim was at her home after returning from a nearby tavern in the Madlankala area, eSikhaleni, on 3 April.
‘She was with her cousin who threatened her with a knife and raped her. She was stabbed all over her body by the accused.

‘The victim managed to escape and a case of rape was opened at eSikhaleni police station. The docket was transferred to Empangeni Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit for further investigation,’ Captain Nqobile Gwala said in a statement.
The accused was arrested and charged for rape the next day.
