Dube first asked the victim to accompany him to a nearby tavern to fetch his girlfriend.

When the girlfriend refused to accompany them, they returned home.

There Dube produced a knife and threatened the young girl. She fought back and was stabbed eight times before Dube raped her.

He then fled the scene, leaving his victim clinging to life.

He was arrested after the young woman reported the matter to the family, who informed the police.
