ESHOWE residents reacted swiftly early on Saturday morning after reports that the eShowe Spar building was on fire.

The fire, which apparently started in the roof of the building, was detected at around 4am and it was all hands on deck as the fire was fought from all sides.
It will take a day or two to determine the cause and extent of the damage, but it will surely be a set-back as the store was gearing up for peak Christmas shopping.
