Richards Bay fishermen washed overboard swim to safety

After swimming ashore the men had to walk for help

TWO men are lucky to be alive after being washed off their boat yesterday (Friday) and having to swim 4km to shore.

Skipper Trevor O’ Neill (49) and his crew Jaco Snyman (26) had been out fishing on O’ Neill’s ski boat Ditto when they hit a massive wave.

According to information from the NSRI, when the wave hit the boat at about 1pm, Snyman was knocked backwards and, after grabbing hold of O’ Neill, both men fell overboard.
