AFTER a stunning 3-1 win over TTM on Sunday, Richards Bay FC have the perfect chance to keep the momentum going when they tackle Royal Eagles at the uMhlathuze Stadium on Saturday.
The near neighbours are rooted to the bottom of the NFD log without a win, while the Natal Rich Boyz seem to have turned the corner and are keen to climb the ladder.
Sunday’s victory highlighted a number of factors that make the NRB side a good one.
The first is their incredible fighting spirit. Having been reduced to 10 men early in the first half, they upped it a gear and took the game to their opponents.
The second is that the defence and midfield are nicely settled and are spreading the ball across the park, as well as being far more aggressive in their tackling and competing for 50-50 balls.
But it is up front where the real impact is made and coach Roger Sikhakhane has the luxury of playing a three-man attack.
Few defences will be able to withstand the combination of Michael Gumede (aerial power), Stanley Muishond (speed and trickery) and Thabiso Nkoana (strength and awareness).
Add to that the workrate of Sphelele Mkhulise and Khayelihle Shozi and it’s hard to believe Royal Eagles have any chance of taking a point away on Saturday.
The 3pm kick-off should see a good crowd there to see the NRB train pick up speed.
