Eight Golela border cops face corruption charges

The Police badge is there to serve and not a right to be corrupt

MONTHS of investigations by detectives of the Special Task Force and the National and Provincial Counter Crime Intelligence Division led to the arrest of eight police officers at the Golela border post on corruption charges on Tuesday afternoon.

Two border cops charged with corruption are taken away

The officers, aged between 30 and 43, face charges of corruption, extortion, defeating the ends of justice and forgery.

An eight month long investigation revealed that the police officers allegedly solicited bribes to facilitate the movement of illegal vehicles and goods across the border into Swaziland.
