A 69-year-old man has been arrested in Macekane for having a stolen vehicle on his property.
According to police, Empangeni detectives were conducting a raid in Macekane and entered a home where they arrested two suspects involved in an assault case.
The police then spotted a parked Toyota Hilux double cab in the yard with no registration numbers.
The owner of the house denied any knowledge of the vehicle or its ownership.
Tracing the registration number on the licence disc, the vehicle was identified as being hijacked in the Dlangubo area near eShowe the day before.
The home owner was then arrested for being in possession of stolen property.
He and the other two arrested suspects will soon appear in the Ngwelezana Magistrate’s Court.
