Plans were approved for 94 new buildings

BUILDING statistics for the April-June quarter this year show a steady increase in investment in the housing sector in the City of uMhlathuze.

Statistics presented to Exco on Tuesday showed plans were approved for 94 new buildings at a combined value of around R89-million.

April plans approved
Dwellings – 16. Cost R4 925 000
Dwellings alterations/extensions – 20. Cost R5 415 000
Group housing – 1. Cost R7 192 000
General Industrial – 1. Cost R1 683 000
Educational alterations/additions – 1. Cost R15 215 000

April buildings completed
Dwellings – 1. Cost R1 296 000
Dwellings alterations/extensions – 2. Cost R1 528 000

May plans approved

Dwellings – 2. Cost R1 961 000
Dwellings alterations/extensions – 25. Cost R6 977 000
General industrial – 1. Cost R3 560 000
Service industrial additions/alterations – 2. R11 894 000

May buildings completed
Dwellings – 1. Cost R901 000
Dwellings alterations/extensions –14. Cost R403 000

June plans approved
Dwellings – 5. Cost R7 300 000
Dwellings alterations/extensions – 17. Cost R5 400 000
Service Industrial additions/alterations – 1. R1 501 000

June buildings completed
Dwellings – 1. Cost R939 000.
Dwellings alterations/extensions –1. Cost R304 000.
