New captain on board for corporate services

RBIDZ welcomes Simphiwe Mbonambi onboard

THE Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone has announced award-winning former Eskom and Gibela Rail leader, Simphiwe Mbonambi, as Executive Manager of the their Corporate Services Unit.

Mbonambi has 10 years of management experience, including in-depth knowledge at executive level where she has managed an inventory budget in excess of R10-billion.

Her long list of tasks at RBIDZ will include corporate governance, information management, legal and regulatory compliance, integrated risk management, human resources, internal employee communication, SHEQ (safety, health, environment and quality) and corporate support.

‘I have a passion for progress, both personally and for those around me, including community upliftment,’ says Mbonambi.

‘The economic growth and development mandate of the RBIDZ is perfectly aligned to my values.

‘In my portfolio, I look forward to facilitating the development of a world-class IDZ, which has been enabled by cohesive, high performing teams, world-class facilities and ICT infrastructure, while also complying with legislative and corporate governance frameworks.’

She began her career working for Eskom Holdings and swiftly rose to a team leadership role at the age of 24.

As a result of her management skills, she won the coveted Eskom Leader of the Year award in 2012 and received two promotions in only 10 months.

Before joining the RBIDZ, Mbonambi was employed as the Supply Chain Manager at Gibela Rail Transport Consortium.

She holds a BCom Honours degree in Supply Chain Management and Business Finance from the University of KZN, a BCom Honours degree in Logistics from UNISA and a certificate in Executive Coaching from the University of Cape Town.
