Water contamination in Felixton

Water tankers have been dispatched as usual, but the ongoing water problem seems to have no end in sight.

CONTAMINATED water reportedly flowing out the taps of Felixton homes has been the final straw for residents after suffering from water interruptions for almost a month.

A warning on the Ward 23 Facebook page posted earlier this afternoon alerted residents of the issue.

Water tankers have been dispatched as usual, but the ongoing water problem seems to have no end in sight.

‘We have gone for days at a time without water and no one can give us a direct answer when we question the reason behind it,’ said resident Collin Paliam.

‘When we were first told it was due to water restrictions and we just accepted it; but now one day it is restrictions, the next a burst pipe and now water contamination.’

‘We appreciate the water tankers providing us with water, but it is a huge inconvenience and we just need answers.’

Despite contacting the complaints department at the uMhlathuze Municipality, residents have all been given the same excuses and still nothing has been done to resolve the inconsistent water cuts.

No indication has been made as to when the water will be safe to drink.
