FNB banks on community foundation

Furniture from the closed FNB branch in Bay Plaza will be donated to a local school

AS FNB closes the doors at the Bay Plaza branch in Richards Bay, the bank opens a window of opportunity for rural schools in uMhlathuze.

The branch on Thursday handed over seven staff chairs, a fridge, microwave, eight bins, 19 visitor chairs and a podium from the premises to the uThungulu Community Foundation, to donate to a school in desperate need of furniture.

‘Our logo ‘How can we help you’ does not end with immediate banking needs, but also applies to the social needs of communities,’ said FNB Richards Bay Operations Manager, William van der Westhuizen.

uThungulu Community Foundation CEO Chris Mkhize sincerely thanked the group for the decision to contribute towards the local youth.

‘It is important that the public see corporate organisations focus on helping the people in the areas in which they operate.

‘FNB is a good example of this and it is not the first time they are assisting us.

‘We need to continue developing a culture of community philanthropy – to give and share among ourselves,’ said Mkhize.
