Robbery kingpins back in court

eSikhawini Magistrate's Court weekly wrap-up including first appearances, postponements and sentences.

 

FORMER eSikhawini Regional Court Magistrate S Ngesi, returned to town last week to resume the case of six KZN robbery kingpins.

Sibongiseni Mthimkhulu (35), Sthembiso Ngubane (49), Kwazikwakhe Thusi (36), Sakhokwakhe Msomi (49), Sabelo Buthelezi (33) and Thembinkosi Mkhize were arrested in March 2012 after they allegedly robbed a chain of supermarkets at gunpoint.

They are all charged with 11 counts of robberies, three counts of being in possession of suspected stolen goods, two counts of attempted murder and being in possession of unlawful firearms.

Witnesses and victims were heard from Monday until Friday afternoon, and delivered their testimony on what happened during the incidents.

The case continues this week.

Postponements

•Paul Khambula (23) appeared at the District Court facing an assault charge. He was arrested on Thursday and will remain in custody until 10 May. No bail was granted.

•Lindokuhle Mbokazi (19) appeared at the District Court. He was arrested on Thursday for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He will remain in custody until 6 May.

•Mbongeleni Sibonio Biyela (36) appeared in the District Court facing a possession of unlawful firearm. He was granted bail of R 2000. His case will resume on 11 May.

Shoplifting

Xolani Mathenjwa (22) was sentenced to 6 month in prison

Nonhle Chili (28) was sentenced to 3 month behind bars

Robbery

Senzo Phumlani Nyawo (30) was sentenced to 12 years behind bars

Sizwe Majola (20) was sentenced to 1 year behind bars

Azikonke Aphiwe Simelane 918) was sentenced to 3 months behind bars

Siyabonga Mzimela (25) was sentenced to 6 month in prison.
