Four die in N2 wet weather accidents
Four people died and three injured in two separate accidents on the N2 this morning
FOUR people died and three injured in two separate accidents on the N2 this morning.
The first occurred on the N2 between Empangeni and Mtunzini near Bridge D, just after the eSikhawini turnoff.
According to reports from the scene, two vehicles were involved and only one lane is currently open.
The deceased was driving a red Chevrolet bakkie from Durban to Empangeni and it is believed he may have lost control of the vehicle before being T-boned by an oncoming vehicle.
The driver of the other vehicle sustained moderate injuries and was taken to hospital by KZN EMS.
In another incident two vehicles collided on the N2 at the KwaMbonambi interchange, leaving three dead and two seriously injured.
The accident occurred just after 8am and involved a bakkie and a Toyota Corolla.
KZN EMS and KwaMbonambi SAPS are on scene treating the injured patients and opening an investigation respectively.
At this stage, there is no information on the cause of the accidents.
Motorists are urged to drive with care, increase following distances and reduce speed, especially in wet conditions.
