Borehole relief for thirsty area

District commissions Ngiba borehole

AS part of its efforts to assist drought-stricken communities to have access to water, the uThungulu District Municipality last week commissioned a borehole in Ward 19 of uMlalazi Municipality.

The Ngiba borehole cost over R1.5-million.

The rising main runs up to Ward 17 and feeds an existing reservoir, which in turn feeds an existing reticulation scheme that covers the Nsingweni areas.

District Mayor Thembeka Mchunu thereafter addressed the community at Nsingweni on the outcome of the Water Indaba, which was held that same week.

She assured them the district was doing its utmost to alleviate the crippling effects of the drought on our water sources.

The leadership of the district and uMlalazi Municipality also handed out buckets to the nearby crèche, to help them collect drinking water for use in class.
