UPDATE: Boys rape case postponed

Ten molested boys still undergoing trauma counselling

FOUR teenagers accused of terrorising and sexually molesting 10 young boys at eSikhaleni in January will spend the Easter holidays behind bars.

This after their bail application was denied at the eSikhaleni Magistrate’s Court on Monday. The case postponed to 14 April.

The accused, aged between 15 and 19, were charged for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and compelled rape.

It is alleged they forced the boys to strip naked before they brutally whipped them at Injunga Dam in the uMkhobose area.

According to traumatised victims, they were also forced to have sexual intercourse with each other.

Suspects were arrested two days after the incident after they were identified in a video which circulated on various social networks.

Lt Colonel Makhosi Ncube of the Empangeni Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit (FCS), said all victims are still undergoing counselling at Zululand Mental Health.

Two older suspects will remain at the eSikhaleni police holding cells and the other two were transported to the Elsier Place of Safety in Pinetown until the case resumes on 14 April.
