uThungulu High School tennis team announced
HIGH school tennis aces from the Zululand region competed in the uThungulu tennis trials on Saturday with the hopes of being selected for the district team that will compete in the KZN inter-regional tournament in Pietermaritzburg from 3 to 6 March.
With only four spots in the boys and girls U15 and U19 teams available and more than 30 players competing, players had to pull out their A-games to catch the eye.
The boys trials took place at the Richard Bay Country Club, with the girls competing at Grantleigh Schools.
The teams selected are as follows:
U15 girls – Sayuri Naidoo (Grantleigh), Lené van As (Hoërskool Richardsbaai), Tharina Berg (Pongola Akademie) and Salomi Walters (Hoërskool Richardsbaai).
U15 boys – Rueben de Bruyn (Grantleigh), Antonis Patinios (Grantleigh), Franco Els (Grantleigh) and Lindilani Nkosi (Birdswood).
U19 girls – Ila Geyser (Grantleigh), Erin Stevens (Grantleigh), Sindi Nkosi (Grantleigh) and Andiswa Nkambule (Hoërskool Richardsbaai).
U19 boys – Gunther Kelling (Grantleigh), DW Augustyn (Hoërskool Richardsbaai), Kyle Maartens (Hoërskool Richardsbaai) and Wandile Shandu (Sikhulangemfundo High School).
