New Life Church seniors celebrate the year with a well-deserved get-together.

Every month the elders get taken on a day out for tea and lunch, and once a year they go on a field trip to a guest farm.

New Life Church runs an elderly group called Silver and Gold.

It is a community of people that get together every Tuesday at the church.

Dorah Mafoane and Nomkhumbi Mokoena.

“We call them the silver and gold ‒ because of the silver hair and the golden years. When you are over 60 years, you get a second kick at life and want to enjoy life after years of working,” said organiser Joe Cawthorne.

Pierre and Sera Bentley.

Every month the elders get taken on a day out for tea and lunch, and once a year they go on a field trip to a guest farm for relaxation and fun in Groblersdal.

Joe said that currently there are 60 members, but 30 active members at the moment. “We urge other couples and residents to join us and see if they enjoy our group. We want to build relationships,” said Joe.

Flora Nelson and Gwen Mooniah.

Mr and Mrs Bentley have been married for 32 years and have been a part of the group for four years. “We love it. We go to all the events, and it is just nice to meet new people and catch up with old friends.” said Sera Bentley.

Every Tuesday the group gets together between 10:00 and 12:00 at New Life Church with a meeting, and a small sermon and gathers for tea and conversation afterward.
