TV weekly must watch

We’ve rounded up three great shows you should keep an eye out for this week.

Start with a romance about a librarian, who possesses a unique gene that lets him involuntarily travel through time. Then watch a show based upon a series of books about a Yorkshire veterinarian. Or opt for a doccie about a man who travels around the world to sample the cuisines of various countries.

Chicago librarian Henry De Tamble suffers from a rare genetic disorder that causes him to drift uncontrollably back and forth through time. On one of his sojourns, he meets the love of his life, Claire, and they marry. But the problems and complexities of any relationship are multiplied by Henry’s inability to remain in one time and place so that he and his beloved are continually out of sync. Watch The Time Traveler’s Wife now on M-Net, channel 101.

James Alfred Wight’s series of books that were written under the pen name James Herriot is based on his experiences as a veterinary surgeon in England from 1940 to 1992. This series based on the novels chronicles the heartwarming and humorous adventures of James, a young country vet who lives and works in Yorkshire in the late 1930s. The show revolves around a trio of veterinary surgeons, including Siegfried Farnon, who hires James into his veterinary practice at Skeldale House. Besides Siegfried and James, there are Siegfried’s younger brother, Tristan, and Mrs Hall, their housekeeper. Watch All Creatures Great and Small now on BritBox.

Travelling and good food: the world’s best combination is coming yet again in season 5 of Somebody Feed Phil. The travel documentary series follows writer and producer Philip Rosenthal as he travels the world and tries local cuisine from different cities, but he doesn’t necessarily go to the best restaurants: the idea is to meet people and enjoy the food as if he were a local. The new season will see Rosenthal visit five new cities. From May 25 on Netflix.
